Here is what I think...."playing somewhere".

The greatest QB in the history of the NFL will have a shot.

The only concern I have if he does not return to Indy is that he may get picked up too late in the cycle and have a lousy first season.  From everything I have ever read, Peyton puts in extra time with his WRs, then puts in more extra time, and then they practice extra.

So IMO it will take him a while to re-establish timing with a new set of WRs and I hope he has that time.

Did he and Irsay meet yet?  My folks were in town and I have not been paying attention.

I have a feeling he's going to end up in Arizona.  No reason, just that they've had great success going that route before with Kurt Warner.  Manning to Fitzgerald could be one of the most lethal connections in NFL history.

Niners- Harbaugh said "Alex Smith is our guy" could change always.
Cards---Invested a lot in Kevin Kolb at best he gets "F" or incomplete for 2011.
Titans---Why? If you were Peyton come home and anything less than great is 10 times blown up.
Jets-----Asking MS to sit seems impossible to me without killing his career.
Redskins---MS and DS seems like a train wreck waiting to happen.
Colts-------He is gone. I think Peyton wants to stay very much.
Dolphins ---Most wide open IMO and a good bit of talent.
Chiefs----I haven't thought about it much, but seems like the Dolphins maybe a bit more talent. Cassell has play well at times.
Retirement--Only if he can't play at acceptable level to him.

My gut tells me Cards or Dolphins.  I would hate the Jets or Redskins just my bias.

I used to believe that Manning playing in 2012 was a given.   But now I believe it is unlikely that he will play again.

I would like to see him go to the Texans. They would be scary good with him at the helm. Cardinals would be my second choice.

I hope PM winds up on the Dallas Cowboys

Really doubt that will happen, but it would be the first time I've ever bought a jersey of any kind.

I hope PM winds up on the Dallas Cowboys
If he does then I shall pull against him on every snap, as I have for Romo, Bledsoe, Aikman,-,-,-,Staubach, Morton, Meredith, LeBaron.

parameters you use to call him the greatest qb in history.

I speculate he ends up retiring.  Reports I have read are that he cannot threw across his body because he cannot feel the throw.  His velocity is down (could be because he has been shut down so long), but if he is not the same as he was, I think he hangs it up. JMO

parameters you use to call him the greatest qb in history.

That's easy...100% orange-colored bias.

When I typed that I was deliberating overhyping him.

But on a serious note, he is definitely in the discussion of "all time greatest NFL quarterback" if for no other reason than he was well on his way to breaking every NFL record in site prior to the injury, and has had his share of wins and the one Super Bowl.

I think even his critics would agree that if there is a consensus on the "top 10 quarterbacks" he is in it.  And non-critics or the unbiased would agree he is in the discussion for "greatest of all".

ANd what I also think most people agree on is that it kind of depends on how you weight the categories...stats vs. wins vs. championships, etc, and let's factor in the different styles of different eras also.  At the end of the day, I don't think you really can say any one QB is "the greatest", but you can certainly talk about a top group, and Peyton is definitely in that.

he is in a much better position to play in a few more Super Bowls than Peyton is right now. Who knows?
