...a 2004 Honda Accord.  Now you might be thinking, "but BDV, an Accord is a car, not a motorcycle".  That would be correct.  Unfortunately, some d-bag stole my Xterra a couple weeks ago, and I had to put the money I was planning on spending on a bike with the pittance my insurance paid out to get something decent.  Soooo...no bike for me right now.  Maybe next summer. :frown: :banghead:

So.......Your Nissan is stolen and you replace it with one of the most stolen brands in America. That's what I call pissing into the wind.  :laugh:

In the interest of full disclosure, the most stolen Hondas are ones from the 90's.

With any luck, he flipped the Xterra, maimed himself and will spend the next 50 years lying in his own piss in a dank, dark wing of some nursing home.

I'm sure the Xterra was only stolen because of the stereo.  And it was a straight shift, which I assume is easier to steal. The Honda is neither of these.  And it has an alarm.

As for catching the guy, no, they haven't.  Most cars are stolen around here because of our close proximity to the state line.  It's probably somewhere in Georgia right now. :frown:

Reminds me of a TV show I've been watching recently, called "Bait Car."  It is hilarious to see these thugs scope out the bait car, steal it, think they will get away with it - and then get their new ride shut down (and doors locked) via police remote control.  Arrested for grand theft auto.  This type of police sting works very well.   :dielaughing:

Dammit, son you know I'm an insurance claims adjuster! I know every trick in the book, but don't use 'em cuz they're not fair. I REALLY wish you had gotten in touch to help you through that mess.

Right now, the auto carriers are using this companyy called CCC to do "total loss" evaluations (whether a crash or stolen) to establish the value of your vehicle. In my lowly opinion, CCC is the stupidest thing I've ever seen. I'm told they hire these old retired geezers to review newspaper ads to determine the value of YOUR vehicle.

Had this happen to me: the local municipal judge's mother, in her 80's I swear, made a left turn in front of the latest former GreggO's wife. Totaled my car. Their carrier used CCC; told them, "so you're using some service who has never even seen my car or even been to where it sits today to tell you what its worth? Not happening!". Of course I've done more total loss evaluations than that girl ever dreamed of and all ended well there, until we got to the injury part and they have another service that does that stuff same stuff and they are even worse, not worth a flip as well.

You gotta call me on this stuff or PM me! In my industry right now they are hiring kids, having them read a manual and pinning an "adjuster" badge on them. Its not the kids fault; the fault lies with an industry that is getting so government regulated it is hard to keep up with invester standards and they cut corners; the first corner cut is claims paid. Right now we are in a trend where bankers are running insurance companies. It will reverse and claims guys will be back when customers make enough noise.

Make noise so GreegO gets paid well again!

Years ago, when I was in school at UT (mid-to-late 80s) Knoxville was known as the stolen car capital of the country.  The reason always cited was that it was a crossroads with I-75 and I-40.

While that is certainly true, roughly around the time I graduated in 90 (perhaps early 91), a story came out that a cop had shot an ex-cop and killed him, or something like that.   

It turns out, quite a few members of local law enforcement had been complicit all along., one turned state's evidence, and one of the others killed him. :frown:

Things like that make you wonder sometimes.

I tired to google that, but couldnt find anything.  Ihave to run right now.  Maybe later when I get time.
