Title: Hurricane Isaac looks like it could be another Katrina.

I wonder if the College Football games in Mississippi and Louisiana will be postponed?

It is only forcast to hit as category 1...alot smaller than Katrina.

IIRC, Katrina wasn't that strong either until a day or two before landfall.  At any rate, NO should be much better prepared this time.

Katrina was a Cat 5 at sea but down to a Cat 3 at landfall. One would hope that NOLA has seen enough infrastructure improvement in the last 7 years that it could withstand a Cat 1-2 without catastrophic damage, but I wouldn't bank on it. It is a city surrounded by a lake, a river, and an ocean, and sitting below all three.

Katrina was much worse due to unusually high temperatures in the gulf, from what I recall.  I don't think that's the case this time.  Hurricanes feed on energy from warm water.  I think the gulf is a bit cooler this time around.  I guess we will see though.
