Title: I don't know what's funnier...
Post by: VinnieVOL on September 11, 2012, 10:07:13 EDT
The fact that Vol posters across all message boards seem to be taking a "WWFDT" stance, or the fact that UF posters seem to be really offput and uncomfortable with the Vols confidence.

In a weird way it makes me uncomfortable, too.  I think we should win, don't get me wrong.  I just didn't expect makingeveryone to be this all in.  It started yesterday as guarded optimism and is snowballing into full on brash trash talking.

And now Gators have resorted to sarcastic reverse mojo.   :dude:

The response I'm seeing from Gators is the birthright response... how dare they think they will win, don't they know they've lost the last 7?

At the same time, I don't really think UT fans truly believe in the WWFDT stuff... it's not really that we are expecting a win... we are demanding it.

I'm just not afraid of the Gator offense like I have been in the past.

I mean Crazy Eddie just said on the VS that UT wouldn't even be in the game because of talent level. I think he really believes it too. From where I sit Florida looks devoid of down-the-field playmakers and their QB took 8 sacks last week. Bray has been damn near perfect and we have the best two down-the-field playmakers we've had in years.

I'll give it to them that their defense is really, really solid, and they have a better kicking game, but some people live in such a ridiculous bubble it just makes me shake my head.

And that's not even counting the fact that Gillislie, who's responsible for 4 of their 5 offensive td's will be limited or possible even out.  But they're right, how dare we.

Eh, it's typical. UT fans are being pretty delusional too. Hopefully we can take care of business where we can hear them whine about how they beat themselves / were cheated / etc etc.

I wish I could count that in the reasons why we win, but fans are fans and have no bearing on the game except being loud at the game. I guarantee you that Muschamp doesn't think UT's talent level is notches below his.

By recruiting classes it isn't above theirs, in fact we should be below them. The biggest difference between us is we have better skill players (to this point). They have the better defense and while we will be better than the last couple years fans should not think we have the talent to be a shut down defense like bama or lsu. Our best chance at winning lies in getting a two score lead where uf "has" to pass instead of only passing 15 or 20 times.

Our teams are a complete reversal of years past.

That's the way I see it....I think we will score points and make UF keep up, which I doubt they can.  I can't even name their WR group.  However, this series has weird things happen, like center/qb exchange problems, a driving rain storm, special team problems, etc etc.

Vol fan confidence against UF is nothing new, even at the level I'm seeing it this year. I've seen that many times in the past, sometimes warranted and sometimes not. The big difference to me is that my Gators just aren't very good.  In 2010 Gator fans were coming off the Tebow years and had a false sense of security related to that, me included. We thought we were much better than we were and we were confident we'd win. Now it is obvious to a lot of Gator fans that we aren't very good and it makes us nervous, whether it is admitted or not. Winning at Texas A&M gave the sunshine pumpers a shot in the arm, but it remains to be seen how good A&M is. Just as it remains to be seen how good Florida is, and Tennessee for that matter. When UF plays LSU and Tennessee plays Bama we'll both have a much better idea of how good we really are and how we stack up against the best. This is a very important game, don't get me wrong. But those games will be the litmus tests of how much we have improved. And I think both teams have improved.

Crazy Eddie? Really? The name says it all. He's funny, but he really is crazy. He is not representative of Gator fans, although I appreciate his optimism.

Cordarelle is amazing. Looks like a taller Percy Harvin and I'm not just playing nice. That kid is electric.  Enjoy the one season you'll have him, because that guy is going to be a high first round NFL pick in a few months. He keeps the safety out of the box which helps your running game. If Florida can't get a pass rush with the front four then we're doomed. And I haven't see Florida get pressure with just the front four since 2009, even against teams like Bowling Green.

Looking forward to another great game with the Vols.

Here's how I see it.  If I had been living in a cave up until 2 weeks ago and had no idea of the history between the teams, with nothing but the past two weeks to go on, I would say UT is going to skulldrag them.  Personnel-wise, I think we have the superior team.  FAR superior.  And for once, it looks like THEY'RE the ones with injury problems coming into the game.  So I think the Vols' biggest obstacle is in their heads.  For that reason, I think this game goes one of two ways:  Either we lose, or we win by 2+ TDs.  We're not winning a close one.  If it's close, they're going to have the mental edge (and the better kicking game) and they'll pull it out.  But if we show up in the right state of mind, we win easily.  It's on Dooley to get them in that state of mind.
