Title: Sights and sounds: 28 hours before kickoff Post by: Clockwork Orange on September 14, 2012, 08:49:58 EDT Okay folks. I walked from the intersection of Volunteer Blvd. and UT Dr. back up to The Hill, and I'll share with you what's going on.
First of all, I walked by The Pride of the Southland Band's practice as they were prepping for tomorrow's halftime show (which will be the bagpipe show, BTW). I got to hear "Scotland the Brave" and "Amazing Grace" a couple of times, bagpipes included, before I had to head back up Volunteer. Next: The Rock. I told you it had been repainted, and when I went by there were a number of students posing with it and snapping pictures. He wasn't immediately familiar but he was talking football and the students would occasionally make some noise or start a chant. I also had to snap a pic of the flyover camera. Those things are pretty cool. I don't think they've done it in a few years (for any of the games I've been to, anyway). I remember several years back (can't remember which game) it had been cloudy and rainy all day. At the precise moment when the band joined the pipes on Amazing Grace, the sun came out. The entire stadium erupted. :clap:
