They are going to have to come off of that some. Thinking of offering 12,500 out the door or letting it go. Title: Re: Need opinions on which car to buy. Very few individuals selling around here and most are not anything we want. Title: Re: Need opinions on which car to buy. Post by: murfvol on September 26, 2012, 11:52:50 EDT I'd go with the Camry any day. I'm not a car guy, but I am a cheap guy. You can get well north of 200k on a Camry. A car is just a tool to help you make money (get you to work). Don't pay for bells and whistles unless you have money to burn. I haven't had a car payment in over 11 years and it's made life much easier.
I'm good with driving an uncool vehicle. Title: Re: Need opinions on which car to buy. Post by: Volznut on September 26, 2012, 11:54:42 EDT Glad you have that option in life. Not sure what that means, but I'm just saying the camry's a better buy IMO because it has less mileage. 117K is a lot of miles to pay that much for. As for me, I have no options and won't be buying any cars any time soon. Title: Re: Need opinions on which car to buy. Post by: Inspector Vol on September 27, 2012, 04:25:59 EDT I am about through shopping. I would like a car but I don't have to buy one and I certainly don't have to buy one that must be laced with gold or something.

I haven't seen either car but 117,000 miles is getting up into the expensive scheduled maintenance territory. It's also about 20,000 miles a year. The Camry is older but has been driven only 6700 miles a year. I expect that the Camry is also less expensive to operate and repair. The Avalons are nice but the mileage and dollars are too high. If the Camry craps out, well then you "only" spent 8950. Title: Re: Need opinions on which car to buy. The Avalons are nice but the mileage and dollars are too high. If the Camry craps out, well then you "only" spent 8950. I "might" give them 7k out the door on the camry but that is it. The car is 11 years old regardless of the miles. They probably only allowed 5k or so on the trade in if that. According to NADA clean trade in only $5400 and I would be surprised if they gave that. If it is still there in a few days and I don't find something else I may go back and make that offer. Right now I am just going to set back and see what privately owned vehicles come up and drive my junk unless I am forced to make a different play. All that said the Camry drove great. Title: Re: Need opinions on which car to buy.
