Title: Eleven down and one to go
Post by: BanditVol on October 15, 2012, 04:24:32 EDT
I have now been to every SEC stadium of the 12 teams other than Missouri and TAMU at least once, except for USC, and I have plans to go there this year, Lord willing.

I greatly enjoyed my trip other than the obvious loss, and I was glad the Vols at least made a fight of it.  I can now check Starkville off my bucket list of SEC stadiums visited.  I may even go back there sometime, it's a pretty campus.

My road trip buddy - actually a bama fan who just wanted to go to a game - and I came back through the back roads of Mississippi and bama and didn't get back till 5 AM.  My phone died about halfway home, but fortunately his Ihis was still good and we were able to use Google Map all the way.  NW bama is not a good place to be lost at 3:30 AM, lol.

Of course, now I ahve to add College Station to the list, and no one even knows when our first game will be yet.  I am going to try and make Colombia (Missouri) next year.

I've been to all SEC stadiums (except aTm and MO) at least once and most 2X or more.
I plan to go to Columbia next year and like you hope I can get a ticket to go to College Sation when we play there the first time.

I've seen them all except for LSU (had a ticket in 2005, then it got moved to Monday and I couldn't go) and Arkansas (don't know when I'll get there- it's just so darn far away).  And obviously I'm now missing the two newbies.

SC is my least favorite, at least as far as setting and the stadium itself go.  It's in the middle of an industrial park, with nothing else around it.  The seats are so far removed from the field that you can't read the players' numbers from the upper deck.  The sound system sucks, and up until this year, their "jumbotron" (such as it is) was like trying to watch an 8" TV from across the house.  They replaced it with a bigger one this year, but when they played UGA last week, it wasn't working and was dark the whole game. :frown:

That's funny, I think I may have replaced you at the LSU game in 2005.  Or maybe you were just a no show, I can't remember now.  That was a good one to be at.

So USCe is about the worst.  It's pretty far from me, one reason I have not been there.  I bit the bullet and went to Fayetteville last year.  Enjoyed the trip, but we probably don't play them there again for some time.  If you get a chance, you should go.

My son did grad school at aTm & lived almost across the street from the stadium. I like College Station & east TX in general;  I like the people. Houston, is a great spot to land via Southwest Airlines;  land at Hobby & fly out of  Nashville for  $150 + fees round-trip.  'Bout 1.5 hrs to location. Book ahead. Hotels are limited. And visit the Bush 41 Presidential museum.  Might run into him.

L$U on 2005 was a long, long day but worth every minute of it.Watching the drunks who had called repeatedly for Clausen to play QB early in the game leave, very quietly, before we even scored the TD to tie was very pleasurable.
