Who knows whether that's right or just a crazy rumor, but that seems to be as good a source of information as any these days.

I've only recently started following this guy... Is he normally pretty solid?

Well, he still takes flack for "breaking" the Shannon-to-UT stuff last year. But in this new era where the guys who used to be solid as a rock aren't anymore (Hyams, etc.) and some of the non-journalist sources seem to know as much or more than the guys getting paid for what they do, he seems to be as solid as anyone. JMO.

The funny thing is if we'd gotten Shannon Dooley's job would be safe. Ditto for Ellis Johnson.

The Shannon thing seems to be ammo for a lot of posters out there.  

If there's an announcement it will not announce a hiring. The firing will be it. That's IF there's an announcement.

I think that's a given, and FL98 tweeted the same thing.

But if they're going to announce the firing, you have to think that they're at least very far along in identifying his replacement.  Otherwise, no AD would be stupid enough to announce it now.  Well, maybe one (former) AD would.  :dunno:

And kinda remind us to take Gruden with a grain, make it a block, of salt, because multiple sites reported Shannon as a sure thing done deal

This morning he's backtracking, saying it isn't going to happen and blaming it on Cheek, with the implication that Cheek isn't willing to pony up the dough to make it happen.

That just sounds illogical to me. There's no way Hart would have been prepared to go forward with a public announcement in 12-13 hours if he hadn't already discussed it with Cheek. Scratch what I said about FL98 being as solid as anyone, I guess.

Exactly, Cheek has been involved from the beginning.  You don't go to your President 12 hours before the press conference. 

Isn't Cheek hellbent on turning UT into Vanderbilt??

So far my hunch on Hart's strategy, such as it is, is correct.  Should be interesting to see the rest of the season play out.

I want to publicly apologize for suggesting that this guy was "solid." I listened to his, um, "podcast" tonight and there is no way that anyone in the UTAD is feeding this guy information. Absolutely no way. He's just throwing crap against the wall and hoping something sticks.

Hey, no worries mate! We needed some excitement! I don't think they fire Dooley until they have a solid committment from his replacement.

Fl98 doesn't claim to have a source in the UT AD. They run with stuff they hear from people they think are reputable. It doesn't always work out obviously. But they heard a lot of the same stuff OV75 posted here because I was asked about it.

I'm calling BS on them. If you've never listened to that hour-long Thursday night horse manure stomping contest they call a radio show, you ought to.

It's a podcast. Not a radio show. I've listened once but not since the summer. I think you are taking their shtick way too seriously.

Their sole mission is to get more hits and listeners.

If I were you I'd probably just ignore FL98.

You can count on that. My mission is to make sure everyone else does, too.  :laugh: I'm just saying there's no way anyone with inside information — which has to be someone connected to the UTAD in some way — is feeding him inside information, which is what he is claiming. Maybe he's taking stuff from VolQuest and other boards and regurgitating it, but there's a big difference between that and what he claims.

I'm not sure why you should care how anyone else spends their Internet time.

We don't agree here, but I don't begrudge your stance, so... Good luck with your campaign against other sites. ;)

It's a good thing. Because if I thought you did, I would bombard your Facebook page with election analysis.
