I love the guy, but I don't really want him in the booth at the end of a close game. LSU had kept Alabama in check the entire second half, then with the game on the line Bama suddenly begin ripping the LSU defense to shreds. Part of it was great players stepping up at a crucial moment; a team with a championship mentality does that. But a big part of it was Chavis getting out-coached. He coached timid, until Alabama got into field goal range. Then he panicked and dialed up a blitz, and Alabama saw it coming. He just got schooled on that final drive.
I'd still take him back in a heartbeat, though. :nod: |
