Title: Basilio's comments about recruiting
Post by: UTnbama on November 07, 2012, 04:58:14 EST
I don't personally like Basilio much, but every so often he has some fairly interesting info. Read this X recruiting info and it's guaranteed to make you sick. As if I needed anything to make me sicker than I already am this morning. Sheesh

I was interested in this nugget from the Orlando Sentinel article linked at the end:

Quote
"I could probably get on the field real fast at Tennessee. [Dooley's status] concerns me a little bit. I hate to see them lose their coach," Turman said, "but it doesn’t effect me that much because the running backs coach [Jay Graham] told me he would be staying ... He came and watched our game last Friday."

So it's probably just pandering from Graham...pretty typical on the recruiting trail, actually. But just for entertainment purposes, can we assume that there's a possibility Graham has been assured by he'll keep his job by someone who has been in discussions with Tennessee and is currently going about the process of trying to quietly shore up a coaching staff?

Our staff will be working feverishly to maintain our commitments and keep us in the discussion for the high-caliber athletes we have worked on during the past months. Unfortunately, the opposing schools have glossy brochures made up of the painting of the rock that has occurred over the past few weeks and providing their own insight to our program.

Yeah, I saw that and at that time wondered the same thing....hoping I guess. I'm beginning to think the next couple of games (I actually think we beat KY) are going to determine whether Dooley stays or goes. If he stays I think he might just take us all the way from a bad team to a consistently mediocre team. Well, there's always hunting and fishing.
