Title: Concerns if we get Gruden Post by: RipleyVol12 on November 18, 2012, 11:17:41 EST Its Rumored he wants to run a Oregon style spread option and I just don't think we have the athletes minus Patterson to do that.
GO VOLS! :powert: Title: Re: Concerns if we get Gruden Post by: Creek Walker on November 18, 2012, 11:20:33 EST That's why coaches rarely compete for championships their first year. There is a transition process. They have to get the pieces in place for whatever their offensive and defensive strategies are. (Also why it was mind-boggling that Dooley would have hired a DC that wanted to run a totally different scheme during what was going to be a make-or-break year for the entire staff.)

GO VOLS! :powert: I've seen quite a few message boards talk about Chavis coming back to Tennessee as defensive coordinator Title: Re: Concerns if we get Gruden Post by: 73Volgrad on November 18, 2012, 11:32:16 EST I have not seen any rumors about Gruden running a spread offense. The only talk about Chavis returning is from rumormongers on message boards.
Just because you read it on a message board or the internet does not make it true or based on reality. All the rumors and talk remind me of that commercial where the young lady states "They can't post on the internet if it's not true." "Here comes my date. I met him on the internet. He's a French model." Title: Re: Concerns if we get Gruden Post by: BanditVol on November 18, 2012, 11:34:32 EST I would be shocked if Gruden runs a spread. He was a pro-style guy all the way in the NFL.
Rich Gannon won many a fantasy game for me back in the day. No way was his old ass running more than a yard or two. Title: Re: Concerns if we get Gruden Post by: TheRealOrange on November 18, 2012, 11:39:06 EST I have not seen any rumors about Gruden running a spread offense. It was in the CBS Sports story linked in another thread, and the story also addressed the possibility of Morris coming with him (reprinted below). It is still based on "sources," but.... "College football could provide more lifestyle balance than the pro game, as well as a new challenge for Gruden, who last coached in college in 1991 as the wide receivers coach at Pitt. Gruden has been spending significant time studying Chip Kelly's Oregon spread offense, sources said, which is perfectly suited for college but remains a question mark in terms of its translation to the NFL. Several sources said Gruden would strongly consider Redskins secondary coach Raheem Morris as his defensive coordinator. Morris coached in Tampa under Gruden and succeeded him as head coach before being fired after 2011. Morris, who had a stint as the defensive coordinator at Kansas State, is viewed as a strong recruiter. However, sources said Morris is more likely to focus on possible NFL opportunities at this point in his career. http://www.cbssports.com/nfl/blog/jason-la-canfora/21041240/the-nfl-today-arkansas-tennessee-want-jon-gruden |
