Title: I keep hearing Jimbo and Al Golden...
Post by: Hollerboy on November 20, 2012, 08:57:38 EST
The dude from Athlon (Braden Gaw?)  was on the radio here last nite and thinks Jimbo and Al Golden are strong candidates.  He really likes Al Golden.  Says Golden is an excellent coach and a recruiting savant.  Jimbo isnt happy with some things at FSU but I think his name is out there just to get what he wants, facilities, a raise, and an extension.  Golden has said recently that he is committed to UM.  If Golden is a good coach and recruiting savant, I would probably be okay with the hire.  Might not be a big splash but...   Jimbo on the other hand doesn't excite me too much.  What say ye?

Hard to see Jimbo leaving FSU.  It is a top program, after all, and has all the recruiting advantages of any florida school.  Don't see it.

Al Golden's name keeps coming up...I haven't even really looked into him based on Miami's piss poor performance this year, but maybe I should.

Try to get back to me on that asap. I need time to process your analyses before eating 6 lbs of turkey.  No hurry though :box:

LOL!

I did a quick search.  Golden is known for turning Temple around, but has gone 6-6 and 6-5 (so far) at Miami.  Even with probation, that suxes, particularly in the ACC.

OTOH, if he turned Temple around, maybe he could be the transition coach that we hoped Dooley would be.  Get us to respectability.  Then again, Big East schedule....

I'm going to say, if 5-6 better coaches turn us down, then he is better than Dykes.

Happy?  You should have eaten the turkey first and then read.  This scintillating analysis would keep you awake in spite of the turkey.
