Title: If Jon Gruden Post by: VoLynteer on November 29, 2012, 07:54:16 EST is such a great coach why hasn't anyone hired him the last few years? Is he all hype and rock star image from his MNF stint? :dunno:
(I am preparing for a less than stellar announcement) Title: Re: If Jon Gruden Post by: droner on November 29, 2012, 08:00:02 EST is such a great coach why hasn't anyone hired him the last few years? At least in the short term. However, I have not been able to see anything he's done that leads people to believe so vehemently that he will be successful in college. He will be able to recruit, and he has the reputation as a motivator. Those factors are very important in college. Oh and he has won a superbowl, so he can coach! The Tampa-by-the-Bay Bucs are/were paying him very well NOT to coach. We are withing days of that payout to endTitle: Re: If Jon Gruden Post by: TallVol on November 29, 2012, 08:13:54 EST I have always believed the TB buyout has been the preventor to his coaching until now. Could be wrong.

I don't know, as you know my view of Gruden mania, I didn't care enough to do that research. I would assume it is a first of the month type thing so next week?Title: Re: If Jon Gruden Post by: Volznut on November 29, 2012, 08:21:28 EST I have always believed the TB buyout has been the preventor to his coaching until now. Could be wrong. That and the fact that he has a pretty sweet job at ESPN - but a coach usually gets the itch to coach again. I don't get too caught up in what a guy does in the NFL. He did win a SB, but he had little control over what players he got. He will have that in college. IMO that is a big deal for him Title: Re: If Jon Gruden Post by: 10EC on November 29, 2012, 09:22:34 EST is such a great coach why hasn't anyone hired him the last few years? Hang in there, it won't be too long now. Title: Did you all know that Peyton is the reason Gruden lost his job. Yep, Post by: volsboy on November 30, 2012, 02:47:23 EST Jon said it himself. When Peyton led the Colts back from 21 down with 4 minutes left, the Bucs began looking for a new coach. Serious.
