Remember when they hired Franchioni? This one could get that bad. Title: Re: Looking at the hot board on VQ Post by: murfvol on December 06, 2012, 02:18:42 EST I'd rather hire Chaney than any of the fallbacks, BUT the good news is my top two names from the start are still available: Petrino and Patterson.

Patterson isn't going anywhere. I'd call Petrino or Davis. They would take it, and can coach. Title: Re: Looking at the hot board on VQ Post by: SmokeyJoe on December 06, 2012, 02:26:04 EST Petrino.
Title: Re: Looking at the hot board on VQ Post by: TallVol on December 06, 2012, 02:35:11 EST What exactly got Butch Davis fired at NC that he could later be cleard of by the NCAA? I don't remember all of the specifics. If he checks out pretty clean now, I say you go in his direction at this point.
Title: Re: Looking at the hot board on VQ Post by: BanditVol on December 06, 2012, 02:42:23 EST Patterson makes $3.5 M and is not likely to leave. Would be a great choice.
Art Briles might be okay. I need to check into him more though. Petrino is probably a non-starter. He would combine aspects of Kiffin AND Dooley. No character AND a bargain bin hire. The key is that he's in the bargain bin for a reason....a Kiffinesque reason. No Thankyee! :nono: Title: Re: Looking at the hot board on VQ Post by: Volznut on December 06, 2012, 02:48:14 EST Patterson makes $3.5 M and is not likely to leave. Would be a great choice. Title: Re: Looking at the hot board on VQ Post by: murfvol on December 06, 2012, 02:54:22 EST Davis is a huge no. Have you seen his record at UNC? For crying out loud Dooley beat (in my book) his 4th squad with a bunch of freshmen in the Music City Bowl.

And likely leave us with an even bigger dumpster fire than Kiffin. Kiffin brought in a lot of hot players, he could definitely ID talent. Heck, Hunter and Bray are mostly his recruits. But a telling fact is that of this year's seniors, there were only 10 on scholarship. Eight with 5-year seniors recruited by Fulmer, and only 2....TWO!...were left from Kiffin's first class. There were also three walk-ons. That's not to say that there might not be some rising 5th year seniors from the first Kiffin class, but I am too lazy to look. Just saying...character does matter to a program. Or did you see how Arkansas did this year? |
