Title: The NFL MVP is going to come down to Manning and Peterson Post by: Black Diamond Vol on December 31, 2012, 12:44:06 EST The Vikings are currently up by 10 on the Packers. If that holds, they go to the playoffs. I would have to give it to AP in that case. Peyton has been great, but for a RB to have this kind of season and lead his team to the playoffs in today's pass-happy NFL is very, very impressive.
IMO, not reaching the postseason would eliminate one from MVP consideration, so if GB comes back in this one, I'd give it to Peyton. In fact, he probably should get it, regardless of what happens in this game. He's just having IMO the greatest season for a RB in the history of the league- and doing it coming off ACL surgery. He may not break Dickerson's record, but it's a very different, more QB-centric game now than it was back then. That's probably to his advantage. Teams focus on the QB and don't key on the run as much. Of course, when Ponder is your QB, focusing your offense on a running back rather than being QB-centric makes a lot of sense. |
