Title: The next big thing in technology...
Post by: Black Diamond Vol on February 14, 2013, 02:27:56 EST
...is the wearable smart device.  Just about every tech giant has something in the pipeline- smart watches, smart glasses, smart...I don't know- socks?  But from what we've seen, just about all of these devices in development require a bluetooth connection to your phone.  IMO, this stuff won't really take off until they include wifi and LTE radios, allowing them to stand alone.  Otherwise, what's the point?

Here's an article that pretty much confirms that Apple is cooking something up.  Given their creative rut lately, they probably have more riding on this than anyone else.

Google will clone the user interface & fandroids will talk about how Apple sucks when they are, in fact, sorta using Apple devices.  In case anyone forgot, Google was ripping off Crackberry phones before 2007.

Actually, it would appear that Google has a slight lead at the moment, as their "Project Glass" is set to become a reality by next year.  And I don't think anyone will be ripping off anyone else's interface- all of these devices will run on existing platforms: Android, Windows, and iOS.
