Curiously, police said Taphorn was adamant about pressing charges when he first spoke to officers, but when police followed up with Taphorn, he told them "that he may request the charges be dropped," an investigator wrote in the supplemental report. He added: "Taphorn did state that he had been contacted by legal staff and coaches with UF and that they may be working on an agreement. However, nothing is finalized."

Wouldn't it be a hoot if Meyer wound up being a worse human being than kiffin after all the crap they spewed.  :loco:   :dielaughing: 

I've said from day one that they were flip sides of the same coin- one has the rings, one doesn't.  But other than that, they're pretty much the same person.  

But if what that blurb implies is true, this goes way beyond Meyer.  That would mean that UF acted at the university level to buy a man's silence and keep a monster eligible to play football.  That would be bad enough in and of itself.  But assuming that a financial settlement was reached, the next logical questions would be: where did those funds come from?  Did Florida's taxpayers foot the bill (I'm asking, because I seriously don't know how these things work)?  And how many times has this happened before?  Surely Hernandez wasn't the first, nor the last.  This could be really, really bad.  Maybe not quite Penn State bad, but close. :frown:

Meyer turned in UF for a bump rule violation.

The funny part is how the Gators loved his methods he was bringing them wins.

And before anyone says it, not all Vol fans liked Kiffins methods that week he was TN's coach.

I was guilty of defending kiffin but was glad when he left.

It looks like the lone witness in the 2007 Gainesville shooting mysteriously went mum as well:

"Cason, then 20, told police that shooter was a "Hawaiian" or "Hispanic" male who had a large muscular build, stood about 6-foot-3 or 6-foot-4, weighed about 230 or 240 pounds and had a lot of tattoos...

As they were waiting for the light to change, the Hawaiian football player and Reggie Nelson walked up to their car on the right side," according to the police report, which cited what Cason told detectives. "Then without saying a work [sic], the Hawaiian pointed a small handgun in the front right window and fired five quick shots. Cason saw Smith slump over with blood coming out of the back of the head, at which time the Hawaiian and Nelson took off running towards McDonald's."

Police attempted to speak with Aaron Hernandez about the shooting, but waited nine days and when they approached Hernandez he invoked his right to counsel. Pretty savvy response for a 17 year old.

Especially since that same day the lone witness to the shooting from inside the car changed his story, refusing to identify the shooters any longer.

Poof, yet another felony disappeared.

And yes, it bothers me that the guy who seems to be most on top of this story, the ONLY one in the media who seems to be looking at the big picture, is Clay Travis.  I still don't like the guy, but credit where it's due.  :dunno:

You know this is being used against them in recruiting, while the coaches are talking to momma. I mean all schools who are after the same recruit as uf.

The wheels of justice apparently move a little slower at UF.  Remember, this is the same place where it takes six weeks to return the results of a positive drug test. :rolleyes:
