Title: Ladies & gentlemen, we have a depth chart...
Post by: Creek Walker on July 30, 2013, 07:54:27 EDT
Not sure there are any real surprises here. Maybe listing Peterman as starter along with Worley is a mild surprise. Alden Hill is 2nd team RB and there's no Marlin Lane but again that isn't much of a surprise. Lane missed most of spring with the suspension and Hill had a really good spring.

QB surprised me. I expected Worley to be penciled as the starter for now.

I like our front 7 on D if Maggitt can somehow play healthy.

EDIT-  Crap, just realized Brewer is listed obver Maggitt.  That's a major bummer.     :frown:

I really like the front 7 on D as well. Speaking of which, I guess I'm also a little surprised that Maggitt isn't starting at SSLB despite the injury situation.

Hope that isn't a sign that his recovery is delayed. If Maggitt is healthy with AJ Johnson and Sapp, could be one of the best LB corps in the conference, potentially.

It's interesting that McNeil is projected to start at SS ahead of Byron Moore.

Title: Hill looked pretty good in the spring game I thought. He didn't

appear to be real fast but seemed to have good vision and he looked like he delivered the blow and didn't go down every time someone touched his shoe laces.

I think there's some motivation built into this depth chart by Butch & Co. Some guys have missed time, either due to injury or other issues, and they're going to have to work their way back on. Looking at you, Marlin Lane, Vincent Dallas, Curt Maggitt.

Still, it grounds things in reality a bit. As transfixed as we've all been by Butch this summer, the roster still is what it is, and that means holes in some spots and no depth in others. Reality check.

This is the chart entering fall practice. It is not the chart going into game 1

Well, obviously...

In other words, it doesn't mean much

Thank you for the clarification. We now end the football discussion and return you to your regularly scheduled classic rock-n-roll bands discussion.
