Other reports mention meniscus, and that makes far more sense for a surgery and a 6 week recovery time. 6 weeks probably means just clearing out torn cartilage. Of course it could be the meniscus AND a mild MCL sprain . . . both of those would probably have that 6 week timeline. Regardless, 6 week recovery time means it's definitely not a huge deal.
