Title: Per several on twitter, Josh Malone is on hand for the open practice
Post by: Black Diamond Vol on August 18, 2013, 12:58:38 EDT
Don't know if that means much, but it can't be a bad thing.  Most thought we were completely out of the running for him. :dunno:

He was there and Butch was filling his ear about coming to UT and you could tell Malone was listening.  Malone really seemed to be interested and not standoffish to Butch!

I don't subscribe to Volquest or the 247/7/whatever thing, so I don't know who is saying that we are completely out of it with Malone.

What I do know is that several close family members of his are UT fans and tell some of my Middle Tennessee media buddies who follow high school football closely that Malone is giving UT a serious look and is far from eliminating UT or anybody else at this point.  Appears that he is still wide open.

Sounds good to me.  We're pretty full at WR, but Malone is a guy you make room for.

We're not out of it at all. Malone is a private guy and it's hard for anyone to get much out of him. Likely he will not decide till at least after the season.

Which is exactly what I have been hearing all along.

And some of our fans have been d*cks to him because of this . . . people who presume too much and can't keep their mouths shut on twitter and message boards. The kid seems to be taking this decision very seriously instead of playing to the media and relishing the spotlight. Personally, I respect that.

The dark underbelly of Twitter and Facebook is the opportunity these social networks provide for immature idiots to communicate directly with 18-year-old college recruits. A lot of these fans are kids and I can overlook them. But there are a lot of adults out there who bash these guys for the decisions they make or don't make. I don't follow recruits on Twitter or Facebook but occasionally I'll stumble over a conversation. It drives me nuts. Every fan base would probably be better served if it could muzzle a certain sector of the fan base and make them go away.
