Title: Very interesting in-depth read on how Leach was fired from TTU

Never mind that this guy is a quasi-hero for beating Lane Kiffin on Saturday...I just want him to do well because he was railroaded by Craig James. I've never liked James and I'm convinced that James used his position at ESPN to make Leach's termination happen. He's a POS, in my book.

I agree...he was railroaded ....and C. James is a...(in my best Al Davis voice).."liah and a cheatah and a liah"!

Craig James is a disgrace, and while I don't agree with Leach about everything... you gotta respect a guy who will stand his ground, even if it means losing his job.

Can't wait to read this book.   :wow:

Well, at least Leach walked away from his conflict with James.  Unlike those five dead hookers.

It's big, big news. Terrible news for OSU and not great for Les Miles either.

Each of the five parts is terrible on its own.

A lot of schools were dumb not to hire Leach because he's a free spirit.

This is going to be the biggest story to emerge in college football in a long, long time.

I hate to say it but just based on the summaries it sounds pretty typical if anything.$500 per game...chump change.

Not saying its right...but I am saying I think a lot of this stuff is happening everywhere.

But in this case if players are on record as saying they got the money  OSU is getting hammered for sure.

I'll believe this when I see it. The NCAA hasn't hammered anyone in a really, really long time.

Both sides have merit. Leach was not wrong in disciplining th e player for poor performance, but his manner of punishment is questionable. James, pushed the buttons and did not follow the rules, had he simply walked around the field none of this would have happened. Either way who cares?

Maybe not, but they came down pretty hard on the "other OSU" just recently for relatively minor infractions.  And then there is PSU, very harsh penalties but for a case that admittedly might not even be a legitimate NCAA concern.  Nevertheless I am glad they hammered PSU.

I think they will be forced to act or lose any remaining credibility.  Emmert supposedly is a tough enforcer, which I took Ohio State and Penn State as confirmation of.  My source is a UW alum who knows Emmert pretty well...not on a personal level but as the former President of his university, and he claims Emmert was upset at some of the shenanigans of USC while he was Prez of  UW.  Speaking of which, USC IS still serving out a pretty harsh sentence.  I think the sanctions just expired actually, other than being on probation, but they are still suffering from them.

So Ohio State...Penn State....USC...some of the biggest names for sure, legit top ten and even top 5 programs historically.  USC was for things about 8 years or so ago, true, and so was PSU, but they did lower the hammer at USC in just 2010, which of course Iwon't forget because that's when the giant deuchebag Kiffin left UT.  I think he found out the sanctions in Oct 2010 if I am not mistaken.  That's fairly recent.

Given that, and the very public knowledge of these charges, with ex players willing to testify, I think OK St gets hammered pretty bad.

But you're right, we will see.

You may be thinking of the lack of action against Cam and the joke sanction of Manziel.  I attribute that to not having proof of something involving only one player vs. widespread activities in the cases cited above.  I also suspect, though I hope I am wrong, that the NCAA was looking at $$$$ from the ratings Cam and Manziel bring.   But I am going to not be that cynical and say they were both isolated cases at the respective universities of Auburn and Tamu and the NCAA could not prove anything.

I think they rely more heavily on facts and proof. There was none with Cam; none whatsoever. Just some guy talking about things that even he had no proof of (you hear that, Travis, you douchbag?).  Even with the supposed HBO show that had former Auburn players claiming payments, there was nothing that came of it because there was zero proof. None. I can't say whether or not the OSU stuff is true. But it does not take much to get E$PiN and the media all riled up and showing up on campuses on rumors and disgruntled former players 'spilling the beans'. They will take a story and blow it up waaaaaay out of proportion. I don't think the NCAA wants to start slinging out judgement and fines and bans and other stuff on the word of some shady characters. Now....what was the question?

Let me add, that while I don't know any specifics of the allegations, Oregon skating DOES make me wonder.

It makes me wonder because Nike is a huge supporter of all things athletic.  Their advertising budget in support of athletics at all levels is huge, probably by itself a significant chunk of revenue for media organizations like SI and ESPN.  Thus I AM cynical about that one.

But I would have to read up on it more before having an opinion.  Just saying it already smells funny.
