Title: Manning nears 60,000
Post by: Creek Walker on September 11, 2013, 08:43:18 EDT
I did not realize until I saw this tweet earlier that Peyton Manning is so far ahead of Marino and Favre in the quest to reach 60,000 yards, in terms of yards-per-pass:

"P.Manning needs 51 yds to become 3rd in NFL history to 60,000 pass yds. Has 7,835 att. Marino reached 60k in att. 8,130. Favre in 8,551."

Astounding

If you assume an average season of 4000 yds and 30 TDs, he's going to need about 3 more years to break all of Favre's records.  If he can also win another ring or two, he'll have a pretty solid argument for being the best QB ever.

I don't disagree at all...BUT, when you look at it that way, you're making the assumption that Favre is the best QB ever. And that's definitely an assumption I would not agree with.

I don't think Favre is the best ever (at this point, I'd still go with Montana).  But if Peyton finishes his career holding every major passing record AND 2-3 rings, he's got a really strong case.
