Even if he did it, why make it public through the media when you know it is a violation that is only going to get UT, and not you - the athlete, in trouble because you are long gone?

Yeah, and I have no sympathy for his "hunger" at UT either. He got money for housing and money for food and must have just spent it on who the hell knows what. Come on, Arian.

Like someone said, he was given money, he had access to the training table, he got a free education, the best facilities in which to work to optimize his physical performance, coaching and training with which he made it into the pros.....why throw the university under the bus because you were immature and didn't manage your money and/or eat at the training table? Wasn't the training table open 24/7??? Ours was in D IAA.  You could go in after hours and make PB&J's or get cereal if you were dying of hunger.

The bottom line here is that Arian has an agenda. Not an anti-UT agenda, but he simply doesn't care if his alma mater and his coaches' legacy are damaged in the process. He obviously has a philosophical problem with the current setup and thinks that somehow his voice will carry weight. He also doesn't mind stretching the truth on his money/food/housing situation if it will help support his position.

It's selfish and irresponsible on Arian's part, and the UT fans that have stayed in his corner all this time should give some serious thought to leaving it.

A few more details woulda been nice. Who supposedly gave you money, Arian? Boosters? If so, we have a problem. If not, well, piss on you anyway for throwing your alma mater under the bus for your "cause."

You know, it's hard to imagine this becoming an NCAA issue since there will almost certainly be no evidence this far removed from the time of Foster's claimed extra benefits.

But suppose they do open a case, and suppose they do find some evidence. Is it relevant to the NCAA that we have a new chancellor, new president, new AD, and are three coaching staffs removed from this? If you are the NCAA, who do you punish? Nobody here now was here then. Nobody. UT athletics are barely even a shadow of what they looked like at that time.

Since UT is on probation, I'd say the NCAA may well find it relevant.  The institutions usually do get left holding the bag, while the coaches and players move on.  I would think Foster's admission will at least warrant a discussion between the NCAA, UT and perhaps Foster, if not an inquiry.  The interesting thing will be if Foster cooperates with any inquiry, as the NCAA doesn't have subpoena power.  So the incriminating trail would likely begin and end with Foster, unless he starts giving the NCAA details about the who, what, where and how much, etc.

I tend to agree with CO. On the other hand, these pay-for-play allegations are getting so out-of-hand that you have to think that in an effort to remain relevant the NCAA is going to drop the hammer on someone just to make an example of them. What better than a football program that has become irrelevant in the national conversation but still attracts major media attention?

The reward? What reward? Does he actually think there's a snowball's chance of him effecting change in the way the NCAA and its member institutions approach compensation for student-athletes? There isn't a snowball's chance on a metal bleacher in Neyland Stadium on an early September Saturday afternoon. If Steve Spurrier can't ignite a serious national conversation on this issue, Arian Foster certainly isn't going to.

I'm not saying it didn't happen, but that story is super light on details. Responsible journalism would require something more to publish. That having been said, I'm not offended or surprised. Arian is a unique cat.

And yes, as someone who worked multiple jobs to get through school, and ended up with $30k in student loans (paid off two years ago), I have no sympathy for those who say they didn't get anything.

The only specific allegation is this:

He came down and he brought like 50 tacos for like four or five of us. Which is an NCAA violation. [laughs] But then, the next day I walk up to the facility and I see my coach pull up in a brand new Lexus. Beautiful."

Is a coach giving a player food even a violation?  Adrian thinks it was.  But come on, the coach got the tacos from the cafeteria?   Food is included in the schollie right?  LOL!  It's the TACO SCANDAL!!!   :dielaughing: :dielaughing: :dielaughing:

Let me add that I am not impressed by Foster's attitude.  While I wish we had got more out of him while he was here, I always thought he was kind of whiny and this just proves it.

I remember him complaining that fans were upset at fumbles, like it shouldn't matter....I'm like, what the hell?  You FUMBLED, people get upset about that, get over it. 

And him feeling resentful over not sharing in the financial rewards....well I am sure a lot of players do feel that way, but it just reeks of petty jealousy and resentment.  Heck, I remember when I was in school, there were a lot of "regular students" who resented the privileges the football players got!

He didn't have to take the schollie...it is what it is.

If you start just paying players then the NCAA becomes a minor league for the NFL, and that's not a role academic institutions should play.

Maybe the NCAA should rule out any money being allowed in athletics at all.  No schollies, coaches salaries, games are free, no TV fees.  LOL! It would never happen, but man would you get to see who plays for the love of the game then.

If he is too stupid or lazy to be able to find food at a major university athletic program, his credibility about anything is in question. I would think food is the last thing they would have trouble obtaining. 

And if the money allegation is true, once again it is proof positive that giving rule-breaking extra benefits to these guys is nothing but trouble. They will roll over on you in a minute. Now that's certainly not the main reason you shouldn't do it. But it certainly should be considered by those tempted to do so.

One other point. I think that ever since he left UT he has held a grudge. I read an interview of him sometime back in which he took offense to being perceived as a fumbler while at UT. He knew UT fans held it against him that he fumbled in some crucial situations but he didn't feel like he fumbled that much.

So, Trooper knew how to do something besides waive towels?  He was also a late night taco delivery guy?  Glad he did something to earn his money. 

I read that his senior season made him bitter and thst he regretted letting Fulmer talk him into staying.  If you recall,he was on pace to break Henrys all time yardage record.  But alas, that was the year of the Clawfense.  Foster probably sees it as costing him alot of money.

Fumbly McFumbleson should be thankful he got a chance at a school like UT in the first place.  He was barely a 3 star recruit coming out of high school.  If he thinks he was hungry in Knoxville, try slumming it at San Jose State.   :frown:
