Looks like Peyton's arm strength is a little better this year. Those sideline throws seem to have a bit more zip this year. No more than he gets hit he can play as many years as his arm holds out.

Like to see him win a couple more super bowls just to shut some people up.

I love it that he is a REAL Vol For Life and promotes UT any chance he gets. :clap:

called the best regular season qb ever. So many arguments about his post season record. Colin Cowhead says he didn't perform well with a few top seeded Colts teams. His playoff record is 9-11. Just for comparison Brady is 17-7. It is hard to argue with those records. It's just the nature of the qb position. Too much credit, too much blame. Heck Elway got hammered in 3 super bowls before he won his 2. Of course no one ever mentions him as the best ever either. No one ever talks about Dungy being a reason for Peyton's great success. But you always hear about Bill Walsh and his system being  Montana's big strength. Manning was/is his own offensive coordinator. Montana did benefit from Walsh's greatness.

Two things those teams had that most of the Colts teams did not. A quality running game and a stout defense.

The bulk of Brady's success, including all three Super Bowl titles, came pre-Spygate.

He told Mike and Mike that when you get to playoffs you are facing teams that are used to controlling the ball all season. Most had strong running games and that was what you had to do to beat the Colts. Move the ball down the field and keep Peyton off the field. For the most part that is the only way to beat him. He said the Colts loved to get teams in a scoring contest. They could out score you. The Colt defense was set up to play with a lead and the they could send those DE's relentlessly after you.

many teams cheat and still don't win? Most of them. It would be embarrassing to cheat and not win anything. How many college teams cheat and never win a NC. I got to hand it to Bama if they are cheating they are doing it right. It sucks but that's the way it is.

I don't consider Brady to be even one of the top five QBs ever. And I agree with Saturday's take on the Colts. People are going to look at Manning's playoff record and number of Super Bowl rings and judge his standing among the all-time greats based on those things just because that's what people do. But if I were in the AFC championship game, down 3 with 2:00 left, there isn't a QB in the history of the game that I would rather have on my side.

"Most" teams cheat?  In the NFL?  Prove it.  I mean, I'm sure most if not all teams have players using PEDs, but when everyone's doing it, it evens out.  And that's cheating to improve yourself.  Still not right, but it's a whole different kettle of fish from sneaking into your opponent's practice facility with a video camera.  I don't believe "most" teams do that. 

You can quibble over just how big an advantage was gained by this.  For argument's sake, let's assume it was minimal.  Well, all three of NE's Super Bowl wins came on a last second FG.  Any single play in those games could've meant the difference in winning and losing.  Even a small advantage would've made a huge difference.  Conversely, since they got caught, they've been back to the SB twice, but lost both of those games in similar fashion. 

The takeaway?  Tom Brady is very good- good enough to get you to the Super Bowl.  But is he good enough to WIN it?  Not without some help.  I'll believe otherwise when he proves me wrong.

Probably, but Montana was a warrior and a winner, period.  I'll never forget his junior year at Notre Dame.  Notre Dame  had lost to Ole Miss that year - 1977 - when Ole Miss was a pretty bad team in their second game after opening with a win over Pittsburgh.  They came back to South Bend, and were trailing Purdue 24-10 late in the third, when Montana came in off the bench and led them to victory with three 4th quarter TDs.  From that point on, they were fun to watch.   During the season, they hammered a good USCw team 49-19 and won the Cotton Bowl over Earl Campbell and undefeated Texas 35-7 but let the clock run out as they were about to score more.

It was as if someone had flipped a switch and they suddenly were unbeatable.  That season was the first I really paid attention to college football and I was hooked.

To this day, I don't know that I have ever seen a single player make such a big difference to a team in one season.  Hershal Walker comes to mind, but I didn't really follow uga his frosh year.

In  Montana's pro career, that key game in 1981 where he made the throw to Dwight Clark in the end zone to finally end the Cowboys 1970s dominance of the NFC was amazing.  I saw a special on that game a few years back, and the 49ers said they were well aware of the historical importance of an NFC team finally stopping Dallas, and that Joe was very confident that they were going to win on that last drive. 

Not sure stuff like that is coachable.  At the same time, I am not disagreeing with you either.  Walsh's system is very freindly to a classic pocket QB, and Joe no doubt benefited from that.
