Isn't this firing kinda unprecedented?  Fired in Sep for what looks to be team performance reasons?  Wow, that is weird.  I don't recall all of the recent USC history too well, but didn't Haden, the AD, come in after Kiffin?  Also, weren't there reports of friction between the two almost immediately thereafter?  I imagine a scenario where Haden approached Lane a few weeks ago and told him he needs to turn it around and Lane told him to F'off - sounds like something he would do.  When has another DI coach been fired this early in the season?

I don't see that happening. USC can and will attract a higher-profile coach, IMO. BUT, if USC were to hire Franklin and Alabama were to hire Saban, my life would be complete.  :biggrin:
