Title: On this day in 1970
Post by: Tnphil on November 15, 2013, 02:23:58 EST
The Marshall Thundering Herd lost 75 members of its football team in a tragic plane crash. I remember it like yesterday.

Marshall is playing Tulsa tonight on FoxSports1.

One of my son's high school football coaches, who is now a very good friend of mine, was a freshman on that Marshall team and was redshirting and didn't make that trip.  We've talked about that day and the weeks that followed on several occasions.  I was in the room with he and some of the other coaches as they watched the movie when it came out.  It was interesting to hear him talk about the events that were being portrayed and how Hollywood took liberties with them.

I hated that movie.  It was basically nothing more than a collection of montages. :frown:
