Title: I have to confess that while I consider the Aubies our brothers
Post by: Clockwork Orange on January 06, 2014, 06:02:07 EST
and am openly rooting for them tonight, I think UT stands to benefit more from a win by FSU and would not be that upset if things go that way. I think that would help us ever so slightly in recruiting against Auburn head-to-head, and that a strong FSU would be one of the surest bets in limiting Florida's dominance of the Sunshine State for talent.

Plus I'd get some snickers out of the effect it would have on UF fans.

Tonight I am pulling for:

Meteor.

Earthquake.

Deadly swarm of locusts.

Not necessarily in that order, however.  Whatever it takes.

To be frank, pi$$ on the rest of the SEC.   I've rooted against the SEC in every bowl game, actually.  Another SEC national title does nothing for us and Aubies are as bad as UGA fans when they have a team that's any good.  And I've always kind of liked FSU anyway, so there.

Should be a great game, though.  I'm excited about the matchup.

I'm not a pro-SEC guy at all-- just sympathetic to Auburn. Auburn is probably the only SEC team besides UT I even consider rooting for in this game.

In a very unsophisticated quick analysis: both teams have great offenses, FSU has a better defense, so I think FSU will win in a high-scoring affair, 45-38.

Exactly!  But they have already accomplished their mission for the year, so I am pretty indifferent about what happens the rest of the way tonight.

Regardless of anything else, Malzahn is a pretty strong counter to Saban in the state and the SEC West.  Bammer is not going to be able to count on one of their biggest rivals mostly being down anymore.

And if God is willing...neither of their big rivals will be down in a few years.
