Title: So the irony just hit me... Post by: Black Diamond Vol on February 13, 2014, 05:57:40 EST ...that I'm sitting here in the South, where winter weather is extremely rare, and there's 9 inches of snow on the ground. And on TV I'm watching the Winter Olympics, where there is a shortage of snow and temps are supposed to reach the 60s today. :loco:
Title: Re: So the irony just hit me... Post by: Black Diamond Vol on February 13, 2014, 06:11:44 EST It was a brilliant decision to hold these games in a quasi-tropical locale. Absolutely brilliant. Just because a city has mountains and ski slopes nearby doesn't mean it's a winter sports Mecca. LA has mountains, ski resorts, ice rinks, and plenty of infrastructure. But no one in their right mind would consider holding a Winter Games there. Sochi is pretty much the same. Simple rule of thumb: if palm trees grow naturally in your city, you can't host the Winter Olympics. Period. :frown:
