Maybe.

But an ESPN article said this: The decision in the Northwestern case affects only private universities. Any attempt by players to form a union at, say, Ohio State, or Nebraska, would be governed by the specific state's laws on unions of public employees (teachers, firefighters, police.) It is different in each state.

I can't see this movement going well for the players. OTOH modern athletics are almost totally divorced from "higher learning". Can that really be denied? Do any athletes become doctors, lawyers, engineers anymore? Very few.

I am not sure when the players actually vote (if allowed) will opt for the union. After going through appeals, and hearing that the University may shut the program down, etc. they may vote "no" for a union. Will be interesting for sure.
