Title: Re: Thank goodness. *** Post by: Creek Walker on April 08, 2014, 06:15:29 EDT Living on the KY border, I know plenty of UK fans, and I have had a few UK "friends" unfollow me on Twitter/Facebook tonight and lecture me about how sad/pathetic it is that SEC fans can't stick together. Their arrogance is truly unbelievable. They don't realize that it is that exact attitude -- that their school is God's gift to basketball and the rest of the college basketball world should bow at their feet -- that causes every other fan base in America to root for whoever they're playing.

Stick together? Why in the hell would we want to do that? Kentucky winning a national title does not help us one bit. The SEC is not like a family, where we compete and are hard on each other but love one another in the end . . . hell no. The SEC is a conference of common enemies. We don't like each other. We don't need to. fizzle Kentucky. Exactly. My bro in law is from Claiborne County and for them, Kentucky IS the arch enemy, no matter the sport. But when it comes to basketball, they are intolerable. The thought is that this might help us secure a berth in the next couple years if we are on the bubble. Maybe it won't matter, but the perception that the SEC was weak was overdone IMO, compared to some of the teams that did get in. |
