If we switch over from cable (TW) will we be able to pick up the SEC network? :confused:

I think Dish network is the only one carrying it at the moment but that will likely change.

Direct TV does not have SEC Network. Neither does Charter, which I just left.

So far only Dish and ATT U-Verse has it.

I now have ATT U-Verse and I'm really pleased with it. They lowered my combined TV/Internet/Phone bill by 90 bucks a month. And they gave me free installation and a $150.00 Visa gift card. Of course, that rate goes up in a year or so but the sales person also provided me the Retention line number which she said to call and threaten to leave.

The TV picture is good, the DVR works well, the internet is fast and they even give you a battery back-up.

I was surprised how good the deal was and how well it works.

Charter will have it and I'm sure the other will too before it's said and done. They know they'll lose mega customers if they don't.

Had a Charter rep here tell me they will be signing up before long. I told him if they don't my azz is gone. He said Charter knows that and won't let that happen.

Well, if you sign with ATT, you have to get tv stuff from Direct tv. If you sign up with Direct, you have to go to ATT to set up the phone and computer. It all comes down to a wash, and you'll pay the same thing either way. But, we are now spending $120 less than we did with TW and got more stuff, so we're happy.

Yeah, they've got some sort of partnership.. ATT & Direct.  I've had both for many years now and one day the Direct people told me "hey, you should get AT&T too" and I said "I already have it".  Basically, I combined the accounts and saved a few bucks a month.  But each of them will try to push the other on you.

Hope directv gets it soon, I have been thinking about switching to dish anyway

I don't what that's all about. I have TV, phone and internet all from AT&T.

If you don't mind me asking, what ballpark range is that type of account going for over yonder? I realize that you and Iris are "in the same neighborhood" sort of, and Im in TN and flucuations are possible.

EPB in Chattanooga is getting outragously priced for cable and I've switched to dish. Not totally happy there (too many shopping channels and NO GOLF CHANNEL on my 150 channel package). I'm really thinking internet only, but I'm guessing tv might change to a little cheaper if routed throught ATT (but, then there's that mean 'ol contract in place). I might do phone because some folks just still like to fax: internet + phone.

Just thinking (guess that means the meds aren't interfering too much these days!).

My little ole local cable company says they have it starting in August -- at least that what channel 438 says is coming soon!  :)   Here's hoping!!! 

Me too.  ATT UVerse with no Direct.

I'm a DishNetwork guy, so I am good to go. 

That said, all of the major cable and satellite TV providers will end up carrying the SECNet.  They are posturing right now trying to cut the best deal for themselves. 

I have phone, internet and TV through UVerse. I have every channel known to man. (You know the old saying, "800 channels and nothing's on).  :biggrin:

I was skeptical at first. As we all know, I hate change. But this thing has been great. The DVR lets me record up to 4 programs at the same time. The picture quality is excellent and the internet is fast.

I second all of this (except we have no phone-- who has a home phone these days?  :tongue:). We are saving $80/mo for the next two years after switching to UVerse from Comcast, and so far I think it's superior. The internet is measurably slower but not noticeably slower, and the cable equipment is superior with a great picture and better features. Our package has many more channels and the only thing I'd say is a drawback is just a little bit less in the way of On-Demand programming.

SEC Network will be channel 1607 from what I've read, but I'm not sure if it will be in all packages or just the highest ones.

We ended up with 2 DVRs, tons of channels, high speed internet for $90 a month.
