Title: Re: Would he go? (part deaux)... Post by: Creek Walker on December 10, 2014, 05:06:32 EST If I'm Miles, I take the job if it's offered. In fact, if I'm Miles, I can't get out of Louisiana quick enough. The natives are getting restless and he's probably accomplished just about all he can accomplish down there. With the SEC West tougher now than it's ever been, he'd better get out while his stock is high.
Title: Re: Would he go? (part deaux)... Post by: midtnvol on December 10, 2014, 05:17:42 EST I think he would be a major flop at Michigan. He would not be in the middle of a talent rich area (at least not oozing 5* athletes like LA, southeast TX, and southern Miss). His abundance of talent at LSU bailed his arse out of more than a few coaching headscratching decisions.

Title: Re: Would he go? (part deaux)... Post by: Black Diamond Vol on December 10, 2014, 05:33:22 EST If I actually thought Miles was a great coach, and his style would work anywhere, I'd say yes, he should go. But I don't. I think he's the luckiest guy who ever lived. I think he's been on a decade-long heater. And if you've ever been to Vegas, you know that you should change NOTHING when you're on a heater. Yeah, LSU took a dip this year (other than UT, they were the youngest team in the SEC). They've had the occasional season like this under Miles in the past, and people started to shovel dirt on his grave. And somehow they ALWAYS come back with a vengeance the next year. I don't even question the man anymore. I've just come to accept that he'll keep drawing aces, no matter how hard he tries to screw things up.
If Miles leaves LSU, he's a fool. So yeah, he'll probably go. :dunno: Title: Re: Would he go? (part deaux)... But if you look at the overall arc of LSU the last 4-5 years, it unquestionably is down. Since he failed win the NC a few years things have been overall headed south. I expect next year to be better than this one, but I also expect them to stumble a bit more in the next few years. I guess we will see. |
