I hate to fall into the trap of claiming ESPN is biased every time they do a piece on Kentucky (although I think it's a fair statement to say that the nation's other high-profile programs like UNC and Duke haven't gotten anywhere near the exposure on ESPN that UK has since Calipari has been there) but the network's love affair with Calipari is almost too much on that feature.

I mean, we're making a serious claim that Calipari has changed college basketball for the better? Seriously? ESPN, Andy Katz? Where's the proof for that. Can we come up with just one legitimate, concrete way that Calipari has changed college hoops for the better?

I'm a firm believer that the combination of Calipari ,Wesley, Nike and AAU have dealt a crippling blow to the integrity of amateur basketball. It saddens me that others, like Coach K, are following Calipari's lead.

And if they induct him into the HOF, it will discredit the entire sport.  No matter the sport, HOF induction should be about more than your career accomplishments, it should also hinge on if you were good for the game.  That's why Pete Rose and countless steroid cheaters aren't in Cooperstown.  Not sure why basketball should have a different standard.

Nobody hold Calapari in less regard than I do.

BUT.............

I pretty much see him in the same light as I do Barry Bonds.

Both are cheaters.  Both are despicable human beings.  Both have evaded being penalized for what they did.

But until it is proved that each of them did, in fact, cheat to achieve what they did on the court/field they are both first ballot hall of famers.

Don't like it, but that's just the way it is.

Well, in Bonds' case that's clearly not the way it is, because he's been on three ballots already, and he hasn't come close.  And barring a sea change in the voters' thinking on the PED era, he's not likely to ever make it.

As for Cal, even if he didn't cheat, would you really say he's been good for the game?
