A lawyer filed a complaint based on Title IX regulations.  In accordance with the requirements of Title IX, the federal agency had to ask for a response from UT.  The inquiry is not accusatory, but asked for details to ensure compliance with all the Title IX requirements.  Federal regulations require UT as a public institution receiving Federal funds must meet the standards set forth in Title IX.  As long as UT can provide proper documents, it will be in good standing. If UT followed the rules, there will be no repercussions.  UT has good lawyers that are very adapt at CYA documentation. The fact that UT has recently reviewed their procedures and modified them to improve response on perceived weaknesses will be in their favor.

IMO, this is a potential lawsuit (like most lawsuits now a days) looking for an out-of-court settlement to enrich a lawyer and client.

Sexual assault is a big problem on college campuses nationwide, including, but not limited to, UT.  As somebody who has a daughter who attended UTC, I want it dealt with and the offenders prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.

I'm really not singling out UT at all, but it is an issue on our campus and needs to be stopped.

I saw that article, and the presence of the picture of the football player and discussion of events committed by football players is almost extraneous and just a sorry attempt to get key clicks.

The investigation is about sexual assault in general, not by the athletes, and the article points out that over 100 universities have received similar complaints.

There were concerns about sexual assault at UT when I was there in the late 80s, and unfortunately there probably always will be those concerns at public and even private universities.  Whenever a bunch of 18 to 22 year olds are away from home and have access to alcohol, look out.
