Title: Heartfelt Thanks to Fellow Posters
Post by: murfvol on August 13, 2015, 03:28:03 EDT
Thank you for knowing the difference between plural and possessive. Thank you for knowing the difference between "breaks" and "brakes." I am not a genius, but feel as though I qualify for Mensa after visiting other boards.

That is all.

Your well come.
I fear for your former students ...

1)Thanks also for not starting threads about the season's first play, or how you interupted Marion Hobby's meal at Copper Cellar to snap some pictures.

2) midtn's status as an astute poster...is unaffected.

Thank you for knowing the difference between plural and possessive.

If I see "Vol's" one more time I'm going to throttle somebody.

The ones I really hate are "Would you take an 8-4 right now if you were guaranteed it?"

What does that mean? How does that happen? How can you guarantee it? I mean I understand hypothetical questions, but this one is absurd and has no point.

This wasn't a problem before Mark Zuckerberg invented that Facebook thingy. Or maybe Facebook just exposed us to all the world's stupid people.

As someone who works with words for a living and is slightly obsessive-compulsive, the internet drives me crazy.

I'm paranoid I'll start typing what I see. When that occurs, Clock and Creek will justifiably leave me in a ditch.

Somewhat corollary to 'nut's point, it seems many posters participating in "Would you take a guaranteed..." threads, also like using the plural form of decidedly singular individuals. Example: "The Tee Martins and Charlie Garners have been in short supply." If we had multiple players with the same name, I'd let this slide.

On the sports boards, cliches are a dime a dozen.

Please.  The Internet is a proper noun and should always be capitalized.  :nono:

I cut cliche users "all the slack in the world", lest my hypocrisy become greater.  Users of "irregardless" I do not.

As long as you know that Dormandy will be a dominate quarterback in 2017, my work is done.
