All for an athlete we were not serious contenders for.

Yeah. When I heard the news Saturday, I thought it must've been self-imposed. I was stunned when I learned it was an NCAA-imposed sanction. I'm not necessarily offended that Martinez was suspended, but I'm curious about why there seems to be a double-standard yet again. I can't say, but I don't track that either. This may work to our advantage. Let's say for arguments sake that Martinez being out was the leading contributor to our pass D woes on Saturday. He comes back for OU, we do much better than expected on pass D and win going away. I also think that was the most vanilla pass defense scheme-wise we could possibly have been playing. Between those two nuggets I think there's reason to suspect the defensive backfield will look considerably better this week.
