A terrible loss, too bad that's it's now over. Another Yog-ism; "Always go to other peoples funerals, otherwise they won't come to yours" Should be quite a few people at his. I've never read or heard anything negative about him. A great person not only for baseball but all around.

"Half the things I said, I never said".  One of a kind.  Second only to Bill Russell in team championships.  Ultimate team player.

Because of his great personality, he was an unbelievably underrated player. Just look at his career achievements. He is arguably one of the best catchers of all time. Numerous MVP awards. The best thing was , he was an even better person. He is one of the most beloved sports figures ever. Period. I actually met him in the early "70's. My dad was working at the World Trade Center when they were building it. We went to Mickey Mantle's restaurant and he was there. I was about 14 in '74. Never will forget it. I had a Yogi Berra catchers mitt that I had all through little league. I got him to sign under the Yogi signature that was on the glove. I still have and treasure it.

Another great Yogi story: Johnny Bench said yesterday that when he hit a HR to break Yogi's record for homers by a catcher Yogi sent him a telegram congratulating him on the record. Yogi put in the telegram, "I knew my record would stand until someone broke it". Classic Yogi.
