I'm taking my 9-year-old son to the game and he's loving the forecast. Needless to say, I'm hoping it swings back the other direction.

With Williams out  at Arkansas, we have a much better run game, IMO, and our D has been pretty good at least slowing the opponent's ground game.  Rain favors the ground game so, open up those flood gates, I say.

You may get your wish. If Hurricane Joaquin takes the track depicted by the biggest U.S. weather model, it may rain buckets Saturday evening.

Latest run of the GFS model dumps almost 1.5" of rain on Knoxville during the time frame of the game Saturday. That's a lot of wetness.

Latest forecasts and models move most of the rain out by 7 p.m. Let's hope that trend continues.

If I may be allowed to display my geekiness, here's a look at weather expectations for Saturday evening:

Heavy rain Saturday night in Neyland still appears very likely, but none of this counts until about 12 hours prior.  Check back Saturday morning and the predicts will mean something more (though still far from perfect).

Thanks Creek. That was super geeky and useful. A buddy from Arkansas was pondering flying (private plane), or driving. Your writeup helped.

true.  It changed since I posted that.

Which is why I don't really worry about it 72 hours ahead of time.

Actually looks like rain is a lock now, but we'll know for sure tonight.

Wait.  I was looking at the humidity column, not the chance of precip.  It's slightly more likely than it was at 7:47 am.

But for the record, I hope it pours buckets because Arkansas has a better passing offense than us.

As I look out my window, I see that it's raining.

And so concludes my scientific contribution to this discussion.

They're saying the rain is supposed to move out tomorrow.  But it will probably still be here in the morning. :dunno:

The drive from Charlotte wasn't bad, except for a pocket near Asheville. What that means I do not know.

Pretty nice fall day at the moment
