Title: Got a message from an old Pup friend of VTTW Post by: HerbTarlekVol on October 12, 2015, 02:17:58 EDT Swampydawg graciously asked me to extend his heartiest congrats to VTTW members on the win yesterday. He's still the classy Dawg alum that he always was.
Swampydawg and I had a friendly wager on yesterday's game - with a twist. The winner is going to buy the lunch and a premium cigars when we meet in Chattanooga sometime in the next few weeks to settle up. I am gladly looking forward to paying off on that bet. Title: Re: Got a message from an old Pup friend of VTTW Post by: PirateVOL on October 12, 2015, 02:25:43 EDT Swampydawg graciously asked me to extend his heartiest congrats to VTTW members on the win yesterday. Pass along my best wishes and also tell him he STILL owes me lunch at the Varsity!Swampydawg and I had a friendly wager on yesterday's game - with a twist. Unless you order them online.

Had some Cohiba Cubano Golds delivered to me this evening that will probably do the trick. :naughty: Title: Re: Got a message from an old Pup friend of VTTW Post by: FLVOL on October 12, 2015, 05:51:19 EDT Swampy is one of my faves, only rivaled by one of the VTTW original UGA fans, Memphis Dawg. Great guys
Title: Re: Got a message from an old Pup friend of VTTW Post by: HerbTarlekVol on October 12, 2015, 03:40:53 EDT I'll post a picture of our lunch when we meet and I pay off the wager.
And by the way, it was Swampy's idea for the winner to actually "lose" the bet. Damned lawyers. :naughty: And another example of how we are all getting old - Swampy's son is now a student at UGA, and his daughter is a beautiful young lady. Good thing she favors her mom. BTW..Herb..just getting into smoking a cigar every now and then. What is a good, mild, mellow one for a beginner? What would go great with my Aberlour single malt scotch? I need some schoolin' on cigars.

My preferences are Maduros, which are on the medium scale, and I pretty much like anything made by CAO, Gurkha, Oliva, Man 'O' War, Alec Bradley, Cohiba, Partagas, Victor Sinclair, and La Gloria, just to name a few. You can get good cigars that are moderately priced and not break the bank. I am a "the bigger the better" guy, which means I like 60 ring cigars. Others like a little thinner, in the 50 ring range. Again, you'll just have to figure out what you like. Of course, I also like a good Rocky Patel, Montecristo, or Macanudo or another "upper premium" brand on occasion, too. If you have a cigar store near you just go in and look around and pick out a few and try them. Or you can go to www.cigarsinternational.com and you can buy sampler bundles and see what you like. I purchase most of my cigars from this website. Invest in a decent humidor, cutter, and torch type lighter. Again, you can get those at that website without breaking the bank. BDV can also give you some pointers that I may have missed.
