FWIW Title: Re: SI Projects Vols Wolverats in Outback Post by: Black Diamond Vol on November 19, 2015, 04:49:21 EST Assuming we win out, it seems like our most logical destination. We're not going to the Citrus, and the Gator probably won't take us two years in a row. Other 3-4 loss teams we'll likely be competing with will be UGA, OM, MSU, Arky. Maybe aTm and LSU. The Western teams will usually get sent somewhere closer to home. I think our main competition will be UGA. And there's really no comparison there. We beat them head to head. They've been there since we have. And our fanbase is much more energized and will easily sell more tickets.
Of course, if we don't win out, all bets are off. Pack your bags for Memphis (or worse). It all comes down to Saturday. I think if we get past mizzou we easily hold off vandy at home the following week. This game doesn't have the pop and buzz as a game against a bigger "brand name" opponent might, or if we had a better record and were playing for more, but beating mizzou is huge for crossing some lines in the rebuild of our program. First win against mizzou, ever (which in itself is shameful) , it would set us up to be the clear no. 2 in the East, we would likely hit 8 wins for the first time since 2007, go to the biggest bowl since 2007, close with the best record since 2007, have our best record since 2007. In short, this could be the best season since Fulmer was fired, but if we lose to Mizzou it's only marginally better than last year even if we beat vandy. The time for marginal improvement is past. We need this year to be a big step, and next year to be just as big or bigger. Title: Re: SI Projects Vols Wolverats in Outback Post by: Tnphil on November 19, 2015, 05:57:04 EST Yep. Not to mention that our fan base is still energized while the puupies are attempting to start a coaching search, or stated another way, after the Jax turnout a bowl would choose the VOLs over uga all day and twice on SundaysOf course, if we don't win out, all bets are off.
