Title: Is there some reason GA didn't attempt a field goal? Post by: midtnvol on January 02, 2016, 09:20:17 EST Unless my math is bad, that would have iced the game.

Kicker was injured; punter would have had to make the attempt. He already missed one badly. Title: Re: Is there some reason GA didn't attempt a field goal? Even in a "normal" situation you might not kick it there. The risk/reward is iffy. If you make it, great, but if it is blocked the game could be tied in a hurry. Not a bad decision to go for it. Even if you don't make it you make the opposition go 70 yards to tie the game with less than 2 minutes to go. Title: Re: Is there some reason GA didn't attempt a field goal? Otherwise I think the chances of a block or bad snap wouldn't outweigh the chances of gaining a lock. If he just misses then they get the ball at the same place. Not a bad decision to go for it. Just pointing out that there could be another reason to go for it. But in this case it was the lack of a kicker. |
