Title: Re: Wait...what? Post by: Black Diamond Vol on January 22, 2016, 10:55:05 EST According to his HS coach, he left UT in the first place because of homesickness. But he went home for 7-10 days after the Outback Bowl and got over it.
I'm glad to have him back. Per all practice reports, he's the most physically gifted QB currently on the roster (although JG will have something to say about that this fall). But on the downside, he'll take up another scholly. We only have 3-4 left to give in this class (depending on whom you ask) and several big names still on the board. I know the coaches were hoping for a big close, and now they have one less spot to give. Title: Re: Wait...what? Stupid Question: Are we required to take him back?Title: Re: Wait...what? Post by: PirateVOL on January 23, 2016, 12:49:53 EST Stupid Question: Are we required to take him back? why wouldn't we?? :He did contact the school and request to return. He is also a talent that matches the scheme. :inughout: Title: Re: Wait...what? Post by: TheRealOrange on January 23, 2016, 12:58:53 EST Stupid Question: Are we required to take him back? I was wondering the same thing. Since the NCAA rule allows a student-athlete to return to the school he transferred from within a 14-day period, it would seem to be of somewhat limited usefulness if the school could simply refuse to allow the return. Maybe I'll do some digging. Title: Re: Wait...what? Post by: HerbTarlekVol on January 23, 2016, 03:21:34 EST Stupid Question: Are we required to take him back? No. Per his request he was released from UT to go to Colorado on scholarship. UT was no longer bound to him at that point. Title: Re: Wait...what? But I'm guessing that he wouldn't have left CU if he didn't have assurances from Butch that UT would take him back. Title: Re: Wait...what? I don't see any way he would have done that without the UT football staff helping expedite his getting registered before the drop/add deadline. Point was that once he asked for and was given his release UT was no longer obligated to him. By his returning it is obviously that he was welcomed back with open arms. |
