Title: If the Super Bowl is to be Peyton's final game...
Post by: Black Diamond Vol on January 25, 2016, 01:44:21 EST
...I hope he announces it beforehand.  Then wins the game, then immediately takes the first flight to Knoxville to be our QB coach.  And BDV will be like:

Thanks for the suggestion on the collar!  He enjoyed watching Peyton win.

Ugh, I'll have to fix the pic link later....

I'm pretty sure HTV is right on this. What's his batting average being correct on these kind of things? 10-12 %

Right.

Dream on, dream on, dream on....

Dream until your dreams come true   :naughty:

Imagine this.....

"Peyton Manning... You have just won the Super Bowl.  Where are you going to go?"

"Well Brad... I'm going to retire and coach QBs at The University of Tennessee"

Yes... I've smiled at night wishing that before....

At least I have an average, unlike your .000 lifetime.   :naughty:

And really, by any amount of reason and rational thinking is Peyton going to be an assistant coach at UT?

Think about it.

And an edit:  I would love to be wrong, but it just doesn't make sense.

I could see it, given his love of the game.  At the same time, I don't think he will, but he will be more available to come in as a consultant during the offseason.  Not sure that's allowed during the season, but he could attend more games for sure and give informal help and I think he will at least do that.

This is what I see him doing and what I believe he meant when he said that he would love to "coach" young guys one day.  He does that with the Manning Passing Academy and he works with a lot of young guys, including coming back and throwing with UT's guys.  I'm sure he would like to do more of that.

On the other side of the coin, I don't see him giving up time with his kids - we all saw his son with him at the post game presser on Sunday - that he would have to give up if he became a college coach.  It's not about money for him, so that drive isn't there.  His kids are already provided for.  I don't see Peyton doing anything that is going to take away time from that until his kids are raised.

Virtual office,  job sharing,  casual Fridays--we could put together a nice little package.

Awesome.  Now get him some proper dog toys.  And don't worry if he rips the stuffing out of these within the first five minutes.  That just means you're raising him right. :naughty:
