Title: I'm trying to catch up, but has anyone mentioned Guarantano's signing yet? Post by: Jethro on February 03, 2016, 03:15:54 EST If not, VOL! Former #Vols QB Erik Ainge on Jarrett Guarantano: “He’s got all the tools. All of ‘em. He’s way better than I was in high school."

Post by: Black Diamond Vol on February 03, 2016, 03:22:54 EST I think he's the most physically gifted QB we've ever had (and that's saying something). He'll redshirt this year (barring a disastrous run of injuries) but if he picks up the offense quickly, I think he can win the starting job in 2017.

He was a pretty good passer, though I guess an argument could be made the Sievers helpers, a lot. We have not had a receiver that could make a catch if the ball was only within 5 yards like he could in a long, long time. His receiving area was huge.Title: Re: I'm trying to catch up, but has anyone mentioned Guarantano's signing yet? Post by: Black Diamond Vol on February 03, 2016, 03:40:49 EST If you watch JG's film, he has the strongest arm I've ever seen on a HS kid. Just a cannon. He's also the fastest player on the field, but mostly in designed runs. The film doesn't show off a lot in the way of improvisational skills (probably because he never needed to). We'll have to see how that develops. I had the same question about Dobbs prior to this past season, and he turned out pretty good in that area.
