Title: The last time the Lady Vols weren't ranked...
Post by: Creek Walker on February 22, 2016, 09:59:37 EST
...I was in kindergarten.

The question of whether Holly Warlick will still be leading the Lady Vol program last year shouldn't even be a question.

Agreed.  That we have fallen this far this quickly is unthinkable.  Pride alone should dictate that we find someone to return us to the top echelon.  Not saying we have to again be THE premier program, because the landscape has changed.  But we cannot allow not even being relevant to continue.

the older you get, the faster time flies, but even at my age I would not say year five of the "Holly Era" is "this quickly".

You might be a tad older than me though.   :naughty:

As to the point by the OP, the season is not over yet.  A run into the Final Four can still save it for Holly.

And to head off all the "ernt ner way bubba!" responses, yeah I know it's not likely.

Anything is possible though.

I remember thinking, "following Pat is impossible, we have to be patient because there's no way Holly can just pick right up where Pat left off."

But I could've never imagined they could spiral downward so suddenly.

I think back to so many years when I took Pat's LV's for granted.  Even through the ups and downs of the men's sports, we always had that sure thing that was Pat.  It was just part of life... The sun rose, it set, and LV bball ruled sirpreme.

What complicates the issue is that at this point there is no recruiting class that one can point at to come in and help shore up needy areas.

Zero early signees, zero commits for the April signing period.

Noodle this tidbit: UT finished 36th in the AP voting, garnering only two points, finishing ranked right behind Duquesne and Florida Gulf Coast.

That's a really bad sign, like Dooley practically didn't recruit his final year.  Has Holly already given up?

At their current rate they will make the tourney only on past performance.  One and done is a far more likely outcome

It shouldn't be a question, but it will be.

For this particular athletic director to fire this particular coach was always going to be tough to politically pull off anyway.  But now add a Title IX lawsuit into the mix, and it's not gonna happen as long as Hart is around.

Yeah and who replaces Holly is just at the top of my list of things I could GAS about.  Not.

Honestly, have you even watched the Lady Vols this year?  I haven't.

More honestly, would you watch them if it wasn't basically your job to do so?  I seriously doubt it.   :naughty:
