Alcohol and the "hook up culture" are leading contributors to the "epidemic".  Go figure!   :dielaughing:

BTW...my emoji above does not indicate I don't think this is a serious problem. It is.  But this article re-enforces things I have seen in the past, specifically a study that indicated that unwanted pregnancies in college are almost always associated with alcohol.

But to the point, if the culture of today's college environment is that students get inebriated and "hook up" then how does an investigator draw the line?  What case can these young ladies make if they are getting inebriated and "hooking up" and then maybe regretting it or even forgetting it?  And what are the men leaving themselves open to?

I'm not a huge drinker myself, but in my younger days I can think of a couple times where had I made a different decision I might have left myself open to something (i.e., on a couple of occasions my date was really wasted, and yes, had very badly impaired judgment).

Just saying that the problem is a direct consequence of the out of control party atmosphere on most college campuses and btw, colleges can address that better than investigations.

Good luck trying to persuade college age people to party less, but I am pretty sure a college is better equipped to police "over partying" than to do after the fact investigations of sexual assault allegations.

It is a mess no matter what you do, but I agree 100% with the officer that the problem begins with the behavior of ALL the students in just not wanting to have boundaries in college.   :frown:
