Title: Obviously happy that the offense finally woke up Post by: HerbTarlekVol on September 11, 2016, 06:45:51 EDT But that said, we can't keep falling behind like that and win against good teams. Sooner rather than later that is going to come back and bite us in the butt.
And even in the last 3 quarters our OL wasn't getting the job done like they need to. Still way too soft and way too passive. I'd love to have Sam Pittman back about now. Title: What concerns me is that even though we scored 42 we Post by: VOLMAN on September 11, 2016, 07:23:38 EDT didn't impose our will on long drives, we lived off the miscues by VT and had the advantage of a short field very often. We were 3 of 13 I think on 3rd down, this doesn't bode well and reflects, IMO, the inability to execute consistently. Here's to getting better over the next week and getting where we need to be in order to deal with Fla's D. :patriot:
Title: Re: What concerns me is that even though we scored 42 we Post by: LouisVOL on September 11, 2016, 11:41:41 EDT Have to agree. I don't feel a great deal better than I did after Appy State. There was improvement with Jack Jones, and hopefully Chance Hall will be back sooner than later. But overall, the OL is very disappointing. VERY. Just as disappointing is our passing game. I do not see improved accuracy from Dobbs, and truthfully, some poorer judgment last night. Other than two plays that were far more receiver success than QB success, we were really, really bad. Dobbs legs, and Hurd's toughness helped to bail out the OL, but we cannot live through an SEC season with this passing game. I love the fact that we got 5 turnovers, but two of those were absolute gifts. Both red zone turnovers were purely VT unforced errors. Overall the defense adjusted nicely, and played very well after the first quarter chaos. Tuttle was impressive. Depth could now be an issue at LB, but I do think there are solutions there. So, bottom line is a win is a win, but we better see night and day improvement up front and throwing the ball if we want a bunch of wins.
