Our family was an afternoon paper one so I came across Byrd later than I wish I had. He ran a series in the Journal over a few years on the old glory days of the Vols in the 20s through the early 50s. At the time, that seemed a really long way back, as I was 15. But now, I realize it's been 35 years since I read the first of those articles! Which would have been like talking about 1947 in 1982. :doh:
