IMO Gundy will never leave Okie State voluntarily. He will have to be told to leave.

Steele will be angling for a HC position. If not at Tennessee, he will end up at Mississippi State. He will laterally move only if Malzhen leaves for Arkansas and does not take him along. Steele will go be a HC then somewhere.

These are just my opinions You can have your own thoughts that differ from mine.

IMO you are seeing more names running up the flag pole to gauge if a firestorm will consume them. Will see a lot more. Had Currie used social media and internet sites more, he likely would have seen that Schiano was a poor choice. He choose poorly.

I know
It was my way of telling you that he's not interested in moving to continue to be a DC

He might for the right price.

Speaking of price, its rumored that Gundy is being offered double what he currently makes.  If so, I could see him coming.  But...I would not think it worth it, at all.

The number is $8.4 million.  At that price, only a handful would be worth it.  Carrolll, Stoops, Petersen...none of them would come though.

I don't know if any coach is worth that, not even Lord Saban himself, but that's just my opinion. Wit that said, I would be happy if we offered him that much and he accepted, as long as we pay enough to get him some equally great assistants.

Patterson or Petersen might have been intrigued with $8.4.

I do not want Steele as a head coach, but would welcome his defense.

As for Gundy, he's fine, but won't come. Just hire Leach. No difference.

x 2.  And Leach likely costs less.

Grundy just renegotiated his contract, and now he's purportedly getting offered double that? That would make anyone think really hard about the offer

Also, once other folks who previously balked hear that number, maybe they will reconsider

And on the other end of that flagpole deal, it may not be to gauge fan reaction, but to get a big name out there that is unlikely to accept, but gives Currie a "well we tried" big name.  May hear more of that over the next couple of days.  On the other hand, if $8.4 number is out there and accurate, who knows who may suddenly become interested.

Based on what I've read and heard, I think we'll have our coach by tomorrow.  We made our pitch to Gundy and he's sleeping on it.  The OSU 247 site seems to think he'll leave.  But if he doesn't, I think we'll immediately pivot to Tee, who has apparently indicated that he would accept on the spot.

Yes, it's an obvious ploy, but Gundy may surprise Currie and say yes.

You laugh, but his name actually occured to me today.  More in the category of "what is he doing now".  But in the very unlikely event we would hire him, oh would that piss off the bammers.
