Title: I know I am late to the party, but NFL banning OK Drill in practice....
Post by: Coupe De VOL on September 05, 2019, 09:53:14 EDT
yeah, the NFL banned the Oklahoma Drill in practice.  The funny thing was that I read an article about it, and the writer called the practice - "Barbaric".  I did a little net searching and there is pretty much a consensus on the "Barbaric" opinion.   Jeez......what do these hacks think about regular, full speed plays from scrimmage????  Are those "Barbaric" as well?  I remember we stopped doing it in HS b/c it was kind of an injury generator, but you need some full speed drills...at least at the start of camp.  We continue to non gender-a-genitalia-fy everything in this world.

It's becoming absolutely bizarre. Football is truly becoming a non-contact sport. I'm okay with some of the safety measures. For example, the blind-side block rule that went into effect this year. It's really going to bite some teams hard and erase some big plays, especially on special teams. But I think it's a reasonable rule.

But banning the Oklahoma drill? That's silly. When I played, I hated the monkey roll way more than the Oklahoma drill.
